- What is The Song Game?
- A music game where every question is answered with a song. Someone draws a question, like "a song that reminds you of home", everyone picks a song that answers it for them, and you play each one and talk about why it was chosen. There are no winners and no scores.
- How many people can play?
- From 2 to 10 players. You pass one phone around, and each person picks their song when it's their turn.
- Is it free?
- Yes. It's free to play in your browser, with nothing to download and no account. An app for iPhone and Android is on its way.
- Do we need Spotify or Apple Music?
- No. You can search for any song in the game, then play it on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube or whatever's plugged into the car. Everyone can use their own.
- How long does a game take?
- You choose at the start: 8-track (about 40 min), Mixtape (about an hour and a half), CD (about two hours), or Jukebox, which keeps going until you stop.
- Can kids play?
- Yes. The Family deck has questions for playing with children, and it leaves explicit songs out of the search.
- Can we add our own questions?
- Yes. Everyone can write one question a game. It comes up in a later round, with their name on it.
- Can two people pick the same song?
- No. A song can only be played once a game, and that includes remasters, live versions and radio edits of it. If someone's already played yours, you'll need another.
- Is it a good road trip game?
- It was made for long drives. One phone plays the music through the car while the questions go round, and you arrive with a playlist of everyone's songs.
